NewsPaul McCartney scores high chart entry in the USPaul McCartney's new album 'Memory Almost Full' has shot straight to Number Three in the US charts. The former Beatle's sixth album clocked up first week sales of 161,000, the biggest figure for any of his solo albums. McCartney's previous best was 121,000 copies for his 1997 album 'Flaming Pie' which gained his highest ever entry on the Billboard chart at Number Two. The sales, which are 75 per cent more than those for his previous album 'Chaos And Creation In The Backyard', come after the star recently signed a record deal with coffee chain Starbucks. According to the chain, the album clocked up the largest single day total by any in Starbucks' history when it was released on June 5, reports the Washington Post. Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly joins San Miguel Hidden Depths Following the huge success of San Miguel Hidden Depths' DJ Yoda and Warp Films-curated events (with Arctic Monkeys, Richard Hawley, Jarvis Cocker and the Mighty Boosh cast amongst the attendees), next Wednesday will see Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly taking the helm. Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly is the musical moniker of 21-year-old musician, producer and songwriter Sam Duckworth, whose unique approach to music splices classic activist folk-rock with modern technology to create an irrepressible body of work. Get Cape's event will take place at Industry in Shoreditch, and will see Duckworth demonstrating the talents that have lead to him achieving sell out shows up and down the country. This night will see him taking a break from recording sessions for his Nitin Sawhney-produced new album (the follow-up to his critically acclaimed debut, 'The Chronicles Of A Bohemian Teenager?) to preview exclusive new tracks. He will be joined for a special live performance by one of the UK?s most exciting and forward thinking young electronic musicians, Nathan Fake, as well as friends from his newly launched Mannequin Republic record label, including the Huw Stephens-approved Boom in the Diamond Industry. |
